It’s been a whirlwind week, to say the least.
We moved into a beautiful apartment and adjusted to living together while helping our two dogs adjust, as well. There are frequently asked questions, like “hey baby, do you know where :: insert random thing you don’t think of until you need it:: is?”, and small moments that will become core memories in our history.
There has also been a bought of anxiety on my end: a highly routine person creating new routines has its’ private moments, but when you’re rooted in gratitude, it’s much easier to move through. One thing I didn’t want to do was rush through those first few nights, and I love eating dinner on the floor while we laugh at a particularly tiny garbage can that I thought was a steal. And, while I cannot wait to have our couch delivered, to decorate a new canvas (We’re going for mid-century, earth tone comfy, cozy) right now, it all feels like home.
With that sense of relief and understanding comes a re-focus on this page of mine. Salt with Soul was born as a way to connect with others, but in the last eight months, it's taken on a new form organically.
Salt with Soul is about exploring your deepest feelings, calling in your purpose, and learning presence. It's about changing your mindset and the way you speak to yourself. I do that through writing and cooking.
I want you to come to this newsletter and feel affirmed. Empowered. Loved, and I want you to know that whatever you're going through, whoever you are, you're not alone. You can always come here to release what is holding you back, and you can always message me if you need a sounding board.
The newsletter will now be in two parts.
Soul, which will be released every Monday to start your week strong. “Soul” will be focused on affirmations, lessons, and words of empowerment. How to change your mindset, talk to yourself with kindness, all the things we struggle with but are afraid to admit. There will be a weekly journal prompt, too. And, there will be some bonus letters with short stories or a new poem- because we can have fun while we heal.
Salt, will be released on Thursdays just in time for the weekend. The goal is to make cooking fun and encourage you to enjoy the process. The best moments in life are when we gather, and Salt is all about making that special. Ingredients will be ones you can use multiple times throughout the week, instead of wasting money trying to find “that one thing” you will never use again. Salt is about embracing imperfections, the mistakes and learning to pivot along the way. I will still continue to use iPhone photos because I don’t want you to get stuck on the image and fret that it doesn’t look the same. Cooking is about feeling, and I want you to create your own versions of what I’m sharing.
You might have noticed there is a paid option available now. My thought is, I'm a freelancer and it’s my hope that you’ll consider supporting this new adventure. Subscribers will get bonus recipes, and as we ease into this new format, I’ll continue to create new incentives. There are many ideas in that Evernote Notebook of mine, but nothing has to be done overnight.
I want to thank you all for opening this newsletter week to week. Writing on the internet again was a big fear of mine, and I’m grateful for all of you. You’ve inspired me to dig deeper, and not give up. Your e-mails, messages on Instagram, and more have kept me buoyant.
Looking forward to this new adventure together.
xx,
L
