Happy Monday, friends.
I hope you all had a great weekend and were able to do something that made you smile.
In the last six months, I’ve been asked multiple times what my salary requirement would be. It’s an interesting question to be asked, no? Do you give the number that is fair, reasonable and in proportion with the work you had to absorb over the last year? Or, do you aim higher, tying in your experience and education to the bottom line? My answer has been fair and reasonable, but each time, I wonder if I’m selling myself short.
If our life is a business plan, our self doubt would be the “Weakness” of our SWOT analysis. In so many ways, we all sell ourselves short daily. Whether it’s thinking we don’t deserve success, talking about our salary, looking in the mirror and putting ourselves down, we spend so much of our day restraining our potential. Of course, this is all rooted in fear, anxiety and a myriad of other emotions that get the best of us as we grow older and wiser to the concept of time.
What if we wrote down our strengths and focused on that daily? And, as we metabolized our strengths, we started focusing on the “Opportunities” instead of the “threats”? If what you focus on is what you attract, then let’s focus on the all in value of our “good”.
Would we continue to sell ourselves short if we saw all our good daily? I don’t think so. We would strive for more, work harder, believe that we are worthy and walk in the light of our dreams.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of only focusing on the weakness column. I want to be aware of where I can be better, I want to be aware of where my “threats” are, but more than anything, I want to internalize all that I bring to the table.
The truth of the matter is, we should always overvalue our worth. We should always aim higher, dream bigger, and know that abundance is out there for each of us. Abundance in love, abundance in friendship and abundance in wealth.
JOURNAL PROMPT OF THE WEEK
Let’s do a “Personal SWOT Analysis.” SWOT stands for “Strengths”, “Weaknesses”, “Opportunities” and “Threats”. In business, we use this to build a business plan, and do conduct yearly audits on our performance.
This week, I want you to use the below template to dig deeper into your “why”, and all that you bring into this world. If you’ve done a “Love Yourself” Session, you know this is harder than it looks. My only ask is that you don’t make the “weakness” column longer than the “Strengths.”
Over the weekend, one of my friends said “I love that you write so much. It really does bring you joy.” and so I would like to thank all of you for being here. It is so fun connecting with all of you, and even more fun learning who is reading this.
If there are grammatical errors, please forgive me. The pups were not happy all my attention wasn’t on them tonight and I have been rushed typing all of this.
The “Love Yourself Space” is almost up and running and as a reminder, there is still a 15% off for all of you. Click here to claim it. I have to be honest, the merch is so comfy and size inclusive. It makes my heart so happy.
Follow @leannegelishstudio for a live update of what it’s like typing this, and if you could follow @loveyourselfspace it would mean the world to me. I’ll see you Thursday, friends.
