Happy Tuesday, Friends.
Today’s post is going to be short and sweet. It’s one of those writing nights where I have a lot of ideas, but am unable to succinctly connect the dots. The truth is, I’m rushing to finish www.saltwithsoul.com in an effort to start marketing this space a little bit more than just an occasional Instagram story and e-mail in your inbox.
I love this space, and I’ve enjoyed slow cooking it through different seasons. In my heart, I have a feeling this next season of “BER” months will be our biggest growth, yet. I have a feeling Salt with Soul is going to become a brand.
When building a brand, there are three questions you have to ask yourself:
Who do you help?
What do you help them with?
Why should they trust you?
These questions help you think of your potential audience, your marketing message, and your values as an organization. It allows you to stand on brand, to maintain your voice, and to pivot within the realm of your content buckets.
If you’re smart, you ask these questions before starting anything.
If you’re me, you ask these questions after finally overcoming the age old habit of giving up on yourself, and finally accepting that its okay to be ambitious and want more.
For some, these are easy questions to answer. For others, they require a little more thought.
As a brand, these questions are invaluable. But, what about as a person?
Why Should They Trust You?
Trust is a complicated word, made more ineffable as we experience life. We see how easily people can break your trust. Whether it’s through gossip, cheating, lying, or an inordinate amount of other things us humans do.
For so many of us, in losing trust with others, we often lose trust in ourselves. We stop listening to our intuition and start doubting our choices or commitment to things because something didn’t work before. When we lose trust, we stop trying. And, when we stop trying, a piece of our spirit breaks.
And, through of all that, we rarely stop to think about “why” and how our behavior looks to an outsider who might have the same trust issues we do. We rarely stop to think about how our actions attract the energy we so desperately seek.
Why should someone trust you?
Is it because you genuinely care?
Is it because you’re reliable?
Is it because you’re consistent?
Is it because of your ability, or your integrity in situations?
Is it because you have kind eyes?
Is it because you make people feel calm?
Is it because you try your best not to engage in gossip?
Is it because you’re an active listener?
Is it because you’re vulnerable, or have experienced a lot in life?
In choosing friends, partners, jobs and circles you want to be a part of, it’s more valuable to ask yourself “why should someone trust me”, instead of going into the group wondering why you should trust them. After all, we can only control ourselves, and if we know why we’re trustworthy, we’re more likely to attract similar souls with similar energies.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned through being an empath in the business world it’s’ this: manifestation and business plans are all based on the same thing- the Law of Attraction. What you seek starts within.
In moving posts over to the website, I realized I never wrote this one thing:
I do not write these posts from a perch, but rather from the trenches. I have been hurt, and I have hurt people. I have been gossiped about, and I have gossiped. I write these posts because it’s my goal to help normalize the shit we go through but are too ashamed to talk about. Salt with Soul comes from a place of forgiveness, mainly with myself. In so many ways, these are things I wished I read, and occasionally they’re things I need to hear. Life is long, we’re allowed to change, and this place is here to remind all of us that the growing pains are temporary.
It’s never too late to try something new, friends.
Another lesson I learned from moving the posts over to the website; not everything you do will be a winner, but consistently doing it will make it better.
Alright friends, it’s 8:16 and Dan is hungry so this is where I leave you.
Please feel free to check out www.saltwithsoul.com. It’s still transitioning, but I’m so HAPPY TO HAVE A BLOG AGAIN. Pinterest, here we come.
See y’all Thursday for a little bit of Salt.
