Hey Friends. Happy August 1st.
I’m starting a new schedule this week; where I use my 5 a.m. wake-up to alternate between going to the gym and writing, so let’s see how this works out.
I also started a new journal, today. Filling up the pages of my “January” journal quickly this year, it felt universal to write my intentions for the remainder of the year on a very powerful full moon day. I released any of my fears in the pages of my old journal on July 31st, and am using today as a way to continue to move past anything that holds me back.
It’s reassuring to know that you can control how you enter this life and that at any given point, you can change yourself. It allows you to live a long life filled with wonderful moments, cherished memories, and learning experiences that will help guide not only you but others. Of course, the hardest moments of change are when others don’t see it, or hold you to who you were before you chose to heal. It’s tenuous to want to propel yourself forward - past your past - only to be reminded of it when you least expect it. What I’ve learned these last eight months is that you can’t fight your past. You can be different, but your past is what made you change, so rather than trying to run away from it, it’s better to add it to your story. The people who meet you now will know pieces of your story, too. It’s okay to tell the whole story.
All that to say, if there’s one thing I’m carrying forward is the idea of working “S.M.A.R.T.” or, alternatively, working towards:
Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-sensitive goals.
Whether you believe in manifestation or are more corporate in your mindset, if there’s one thing that both schools of thought can agree on it’s this: YOU NEED GOALS.
If you want something in life, write it down, and work towards it every day.
In fact, I believe there can be a blend of these schools of thought.
(maybe that’s what I’ll be known for? The Business Manifestor: blending proven spiritual and business beliefs to help you achieve your ultimate ambitions. Wait, no- Leanne. FOCUS. but also, if you’re reading this- don’t steal my idea)
In manifestation, your goals might look like “envisioning”, writing about your dreams in the present tense as if you have them already, “calling in”, and so on and so on. In business, your goals might be outlined within the pages of a strategic plan, or in your mission statement. As a dual business major with a penchant for the woo-woo, I’m here to say it’s all the same thing.
When manifesting, what you’re really doing is using your energy to channel the law of attraction. In neural manifestation, you’re taking this a level deeper to learn who you are, and what holds you back, so you can free yourself to live in a space where you’re always up-leveling (or, getting better).
In business, you use strategic plans, outlines, managers, mission statements, etc., to motivate your team to achieve the company goals. You have weekly meetings to review progress, and pivot when you tell something isn’t working. You’re constantly setting a standard to move forward.
Isn’t that to say then, that in business, you’re using the law of attraction, too?
When you have Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-sensitive goals, you’re using your energy to call in one thing: your dream or your success. It’s not about indulging in toxic positivity or avoiding what is uncomfortable or not working, it’s about finding your goal even when everything feels off-kilter. It’s about having this one thing to come back to, even on the days that you feel lost.
Being S.M.A.R.T. is about finding solutions to any problems that come your way, knowing when to pivot or when to pause to plan. It’s about doing the work, even if you’re tired or want to give up. Being S.M.A.R.T. means being willing to trust that all of this focus will pay off dividends, even if no one else can see your vision yet.
You are worthy of all you dream of, friends. Just stay S.M.A.R.T.
JOURNAL PROMPT OF THE WEEK:
I stopped doing these because I was afraid they were too vulnerable, but I left that fear in July, so let’s bring it back.
Today is the first of two full moons in August. It’s also a Supermoon, which means it’ll appear 7% bigger to all of us around the globe. Full Moons represent a time to release, and a Supermoon in Aquarius means it’s a time to release all those negative feelings that hold you back.
This week’s journal prompt is simple:
Write down your biggest fears and what holds you back. When you’re finished with your list write “I am releasing::insert fear:: and I am grateful.”
I promise you’ll feel better.
As always, I’m grateful you’re here and I hope you’re able to take something away, this week.
As a reminder, 15% of all Merch Profits will be donated this month, so feel free to check it out.
I’m also a good time on Instagram, so feel free to follow.
We’ll be back Thursday with a lil’ salt. This is awkward, but uhhh, Ben Franklin’s recipe did not slap in the stats so we’ll go back to Leanne recipes :)
